Introduction

Idea for creating Faculty of Law, SRM University Haryana is to offer a working legal education model that caters to the rising demands of society, system and the civilization. Here we offer legal education which is based on best practices of admissions, academic management, planning, Law school administration, curriculum designing, pedagogy and examination system. The complete academic rigour is to maintain quality and standards based on the dynamics of clinical practices and case-law method, an extensive research platform, innovation about legal knowledge creation and convergence as well as an internal academic audit system.

The school is being planned to evolve as a world class system with highly qualified faculty, well equipped library, meticulously designed e-learning system and latest learning methods based on best ideas of design and discovery and user interface technologies. The academic programme is backed with moot court trainings, legal-aid programmes, court visits, internships, workshops and guest lectures by specialists of multi-disciplinary fields. The dynamics of our legal education programme is comparable to the best of the legal education standards of the world.

School of Legal Studies

Department of Undergraduate Legal Studies
The Undergraduate Programme is one of the flagship programmes of this legal education initiative and is offered in the department as:

  • LL.B (Hons.) (Professional)
  • BA.LL.B (Hons.) Integrated
  • BBA.LL.B (Hons.) Integrated

Center for Postgraduate Legal Studies
A Centre for Postgraduate Legal Studies (CPGLS) has been set up in the law school as per latest UGC guidelines to offer:

  • LL.M. 1-year Programme
    The 1-year LL.M. Programme is being offered in the following areas:
    • International Business Transactions and Trade Law
    • Law of Development and Environment
    • Corporate and Banking Law
    • Criminal and Security Law
  • Ph.D. Programme
    The part time programme is offered to the candidates on the basis of minimum residential requirements under various UGC guidelines while they are on various assignments in different professions, industry and in various other fields of legal entrepreneurship.

Courses Offered

Under Graduate Courses

  • Bachelor of Law - LL.B. (Hons.)

    Duration:
    3 years

    Eligibility:
    Candidates must have passed graduation or an equivalent examination in any discipline from a UGC recognized University with 50% marks in aggregate.


Post Graduate Courses

  • Master of Law (LL.M.)

    Duration:
    1 year

    Eligibility:

UG/PG(Integrated) Courses

  • Bachelor of Law - BA.LL.B. (Hons.)

    Duration:
    5 years

    Eligibility:
    Candidates must have passed 12th Standard or an equivalent examination, recognized by State or Central Education Board and must have obtained 50% marks in aggregate.

  • Bachelor of Law - BBA.LL.B. (Hons.)

    Duration:
    5 years

    Eligibility:
    Candidates must have passed 12th Standard or an equivalent examination, recognized by State or Central Education Board and must have obtained 50% marks in aggregate.


Doctorate

  • Ph.D. - Law

    Eligibility:
    Candidates must have passed Post graduation in the relevant discipline from a UGC recognized University with 50% marks in aggregate. However an applicant with M.Phil/CSIR-UGC/JRF/NET/SLET cleared in the relevant subject is exempted from Entrance test.

As per UGC notification of 5th May 2016
Minimum duration for Ph.D. is 3 years including course work and maximum of 6 years (full time / part time).
