SRM University Dedicates Apple iMac Advanced Computing Lab

Department of Computer Science Engineering (CSE) has reached another milestone by dedicating an Apple iMac Advanced Computing Lab with sixty four computers in the initial phase for training the students on application and software development for I phones and iPads. Amidst thunderous applause from students and Faculty members, Dr. P. Parkash, the Vice Chancellor, inaugurated the lab and exhorted that Apple technology has changed the dynamics of present software market, and companies are looking young graduates, who are empowered to develop and build new applications based on iOS. Furthermore, he added, unlike other usual laboratories, we don’t see this as merely a simple laboratory, rather, it is a place for creativity, not just for testing but for innovating.
Prof. V. Samuel Raj, Dean Academic Affairs, while felicitating the function, explicated, this facility will further pave the way for possibilities and opportunities for the University to collaborate more partnerships in innovative learning in the global market as the university envisions administering elective and certificate courses and special programs focusing on iOS apps development. Prof. Puneet Goswami, Professor, Department of CSE, who emphasized the importance of establishing the lab, appreciated those who are instrumental, and pointed out that with the mobile apps industry raking in billions of dollars in revenues, this lab can also serve as an outsourcing hub that will provide opportunities for faculty, students and other interested personalities to develop commercial iOS apps. The inaugural ceremony was attended by Dr. Manish Bhalla, the Registrar, Mr. Manoj Madhavan Kutty, Deputy Director – Admissions, HOD-CSE, staff members and students.Back To Announcement
