International Women's Day #SHERO

8th March, considered as International Women’s Day. This day brings many things for women – a cause for celebration, a reason to pause and re-evaluate a remembrance, an inspiration and a time to honour, loved and admired.
On occasion of International Women’s Day, in a sign of increasing sensitivity to the needs of women, The SRM University has celebrated the event of International Women’s Day on the title #SHERO “The Female Inspiration” on 8th March, 2021 at 2:00 PM.
International Women's Day is a global day celebrating the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women. The day is also marked a call to action for accelerating gender parity. Significant activity is witnessed worldwide as groups come together to celebrate women's achievements or rally for women's equality.
For the event chief guest was Ms. Shabhnam Siddiqui, Executive Director at United Nation, Global Compact Nation and other distinguished guests on the dice were Professor (Dr.) Paramjit S. Jaswal(Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor) SRM University, Professor (Dr.) Samuel Raj (Director C4D) SRM University, Professor (Dr.) Manish Bhalla (Registrar) SRM University, Professor (Dr.) Komal Audichya (HOD-Department of Law) SRM University.
A Welcome address was given by Professor (Dr.) Komal Audichya (HOD-Department of Law) SRM University after lighting the lamp and Saraswati Vandana. During the event, Professor (Dr.) Komal Audichya addressed that it is a day to acknowledge and make people aware of women's rights and gender equality, parity, and call to action for accelerating women's equality. Ms. Shabhnam Siddiqui addressed that there should be a balance between career and family and without a family support a women can’t achieve success, also addressed that girls should know their right to defend themselves and be careful against crimes against women. The presidential address was also delivered by Professor (Dr.) Paramjit S. Jaswal (Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor) that for many people, the role of women is limited to household chores only. However, this needs to change as women deserve equal freedom and opportunities in everything like men. The world is moving towards gender equality. There was prize distribution of Essay Writing Competition and participants were the school students from the nearby area. The event ended with cake cutting ceremony and Vote thanks was delivered by Professor (Dr.) Manish Bhalla (Registrar).Back To Events
