Legal Aid Camp organized at Khewra village by Faculty of Law, SRM University Delhi-NCR, Sonepat, Haryana

Faculty of Law, SRM University has organized Legal Aid Camp at Khewra village as part of the commemoration of Pandit Deen Dayal Upadhyay day on 21st November,2017. Faculty members of Legal Studies and students played an important role in organizing this programme. Leaders and representatives of the people were present in the programme. One of the leading teachers from the village named Mr. Om Prakash welcomed the proactive initiatives of SRM University in creating awareness about the law and also reflected on the consciousness related to law. He emphasized on the political legacy of the village and exhorted to see this kind of events as an extension of that grand legacy.
Another person from the village named Mr. Jaspal who is very much part of the socio-cultural activities of the village spoke about the impact of professionalism in legal sphere and the consequential alienation of people from the sphere of law. Representatives also spoke about the revolutionary nature of law and its relevance in the day to day life in the village. Mr.Navneet Sangwan, Faculty member emphasized on the significance of law and its awareness in the contemporary society. It is further observed that access to legal services is integral to the larger questions of social justice.
Students also shared salient perspectives on the diverse legal debates. Manmeet Malik discussed about the nuances of civil and criminal-legal arena in lucid manner. Kajal raised the core elements related to gender justice and the need to strengthen its categories and practices related to citizenship. Pulkit shared his views on the salience of law in agrarian, Indian society. Richa shared her views on the legal perspectives related to equality. Abhishek argued for the transparent grounds for the right to information act. Himanshi’s deliberation on the legal discourse was important due to its contemporary relevance. People who gathered for the function shared their views on the obstacles they face related to legal matters.Back To Events
