Introduction

The Faculty of Engineering and Technology, SRM University Delhi-NCR, Sonepat, Haryana, conducted Day 4 of the “Aarambika 2026 – Freshers’ Induction Programme” on 21 August 2026. The day was designed to familiarize the newly admitted students with the academic structure, faculty support systems, technical clubs, National Cadet Corps, Centres of Excellence, institutional committees, and departmental facilities. The programme concluded with a Prize Distribution Ceremony and a recreational movie screening.

Welcome Address and Institutional Briefing

The day commenced with a Welcome Address and Institutional Briefing at the Sri Sarveswarar Auditorium. The session included “Engineering Your Future: A Journey Towards Excellence”, delivered by the Dean, Engineering and Technology, providing students with an overview of the opportunities, expectations, and possibilities that lie ahead during their engineering journey.

Corporate Professional Talk: “Automate, Predict & Optimize: AI Driven DevOps with Xebia”

The second session, “Automate, Predict & Optimize: AI Driven DevOps with Xebia,” was jointly delivered by industry experts from Xebia Academy: Dr. Swati Tyagi, Full Stack and Data Trainer, and Mr. Utkarsh Aggarwal, Subject Matter Expert and DevOps Trainer. Together, they provided an industry-centric overview of modern software engineering practices, illustrating how artificial intelligence is transforming contemporary DevOps workflows. Dr. Tyagi opened the talk by introducing core concepts of process automation, predictive analysis, and system optimization, emphasizing the essential technical competencies required to thrive in today’s rapidly evolving software landscape. Building upon these foundations, Mr. Utkarsh Aggarwal expanded on real-world DevOps applications and modern engineering paradigms. The session offered engineering freshers valuable early exposure to cutting-edge technology trends and practical industry insights.

This was followed by “Connecting Science with Engineering: A Foundation for Engineering”, delivered by the Head of the Department of Applied Science. The session highlighted the importance of fundamental sciences in developing a strong foundation for engineering education. The students were also introduced to the Faculty Coordinators and Class In-charges, helping them understand the academic support structure available to them.

The session further included an introduction to the Mentor-Mentee System, familiarizing students with the mentoring mechanism and the role of faculty mentors in supporting their academic and personal development.

Technical Clubs: “Connect, Create, Innovate”

The next session, titled “Connect, Create, Innovate: Your Technical Club Journey at Faculty of Engineering and Technology”, was conducted by Dr. Ruchi Kwatra, Faculty Advisor. The session introduced students to the technical clubs and the opportunities they provide for learning beyond the classroom. Students were encouraged to actively participate in technical activities, collaborative projects, competitions, innovation initiatives, and other student-driven opportunities.

The session emphasized the importance of exploring interests, developing practical skills, and working collaboratively with peers through technical clubs.

National Cadet Corps (NCC) at SRMUH

Students were subsequently introduced to the National Cadet Corps (NCC) at SRMUH through a session conducted by Dr. Sanjey Kumar. The session provided students with an overview of the NCC and its role in developing discipline, teamwork, leadership, responsibility, and a sense of commitment among students.

Centres of Excellence: Unlocking Opportunities in Innovation, Research & Technology

A dedicated session was conducted on “Centres of Excellence: Unlocking Opportunities in Innovation, Research & Technology.” Students were introduced to various Centres of Excellence and their areas of work:

• ACMA – presented by Dr. Ruchi Kwatra
• C4D – presented by Dr. Anjali Priyadarshini
• SRM Siemens Centre of Excellence – presented by Dr. R. Sankar
• Centre of Excellence on Smart Grid and Data Analysis – presented by Dr. Deepika Yadav
• Ultra Tech Centre of Excellence – presented by Dr. Ruchika Dabas

The session familiarized students with the research, innovation, and technology-oriented opportunities available within the Faculty. It encouraged students to explore these facilities and understand how participation in research and innovation activities can complement their academic learning.

Address by Internal Committee

The programme continued with an informative session by the Internal Committee and the SDG & E-Waste Management team. The Internal Committee session was addressed by Prof. (Dr.) Renu Choudhary, Presiding Officer, Internal Committee, and Dr. Neelu Choudhary, Secretary, Internal Committee.

The session on SDGs and E-Waste Management was addressed by Prof. (Dr.) Renu Choudhary, Chairperson, SDG, and Dr. Prianka Dutta, Member Secretary, SDG. The session familiarized students with institutional initiatives related to responsible campus practices, sustainability, awareness, and environmental responsibility.

Interspersed between the formal sessions, students added energy and enthusiasm to the programme through engaging dance, singing, and rap performances, creating a lively and enjoyable atmosphere for everyone present.

Prize Distribution Ceremony

The post-lunch session featured a Prize Distribution Ceremony, recognizing and appreciating students for their participation and achievements in the activities conducted as part of the induction programme.

Day 4 of Aarambika 2026 successfully provided students with:
