The Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Faculty of Engineering & Technology, SRM University Delhi-NCR, Sonepat, successfully organized a One-Week Faculty Development Programme (FDP) on "Intelligent Energy Transition: Harnessing AI, Machine Learning and Electric Mobility for a Sustainable Future" from 13th to 17th July 2026, with the generous financial support of HSCC (India) Ltd. The programme was conducted in hybrid mode, enabling participation from faculty members, research scholars, postgraduate students, and industry professionals from institutions across India. The primary objective of the FDP was to enhance participants' knowledge of emerging technologies transforming the energy sector, with a special focus on Artificial Intelligence (AI), Machine Learning (ML), Smart Grids, Renewable Energy Integration, Electric Mobility, Cybersecurity, and Intelligent Energy Management. The programme aimed to bridge the gap between academia and industry by providing a platform for knowledge sharing, collaborative learning, and discussions on the latest research trends and practical challenges in sustainable energy systems.

 

Day 1 – 13 July 2026

Speaker: Dr. E. S. N. Raju P, IIT Guwahati

Topic: AI for Smart Mobility and Intelligent Transportation Systems

The inaugural session commenced with a welcome address by the organizers, followed by an overview of the FDP objectives. Dr. E. S. N. Raju P delivered an insightful lecture on Artificial Intelligence applications in smart mobility and intelligent transportation systems. He discussed AI-driven approaches for forecasting power system inertia, renewable energy integration, and the role of intelligent algorithms in improving grid reliability and operational efficiency. The session concluded with an interactive discussion, where participants actively engaged with the speaker through questions and technical deliberations.

 

Day 2 – 14 July 2026

Speaker: Mr. Shashank Jewalikar, Executive Director, MSLDC, Mumbai

Topic: SLDC Perspective on Energy Transition

The second day focused on modern power system operation from the perspective of the State Load Dispatch Centre. Mr. Shashank Jewalikar shared practical insights into renewable energy integration, grid stability, energy storage, and AI-enabled grid management. He also highlighted Maharashtra's pioneering initiatives, including Security Constrained Economic Dispatch (SCED), cybersecurity, and collaborations with IIT Bombay for modernizing the power grid. Participants appreciated the industry-oriented discussions and practical case studies presented during the session.

 

Day 3 – 15 July 2026

Speaker: Prof. Bidyadhar Subudhi, Director, NIT Warangal

Topic: AI-Enabled Autonomous Control and Decision-Making for Resilient Microgrids

The third day's session explored intelligent control techniques for modern power systems. Prof. Bidyadhar Subudhi explained the applications of Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning in autonomous control, renewable energy integration, microgrids, and resilient energy management. He also discussed advanced control algorithms, system stability, and future research opportunities in intelligent energy systems. The session provided participants with valuable insights into cutting-edge developments in control engineering and smart energy applications.

 

Day 4 – 16 July 2026

Speaker: Prof. Prabodh Bajpai, IIT Kanpur

Topic: Renewable Integrated Smart Energy Systems

Prof. Prabodh Bajpai delivered an informative lecture on renewable integrated smart energy systems and sustainable energy management. The session covered renewable energy integration, smart grids, electricity markets, power system operation, and AI-enabled energy management techniques. Participants gained a deeper understanding of sustainable energy technologies, grid modernization, and emerging research challenges in renewable energy systems. The session concluded with an engaging interaction between the speaker and participants.


Day 5 – 17 July 2026

Speaker: Prof. Manoj Tripathy, IIT Roorkee

Topic: Cybersecurity Resilience in Smart Energy Systems

The final technical session was delivered by Prof. Manoj Tripathy, who discussed cybersecurity challenges and resilience strategies for modern smart energy systems. The lecture focused on cyber-physical security, power system protection, smart grids, artificial intelligence, machine learning applications, and emerging technologies for enhancing the security and reliability of future power networks. The session concluded with an interactive question-and-answer session, where participants discussed practical challenges and research opportunities in cybersecurity for power systems.

 

Valedictory Session

The FDP featured five distinguished resource persons from premier institutions and industry, namely IIT Guwahati, IIT Kanpur, IIT Roorkee, NIT Warangal, and the Maharashtra State Load Dispatch Centre (MSLDC), Mumbai. Through expert lectures, interactive discussions, and question-and-answer sessions, participants gained valuable insights into cutting-edge research, industrial practices, and innovative applications of AI and Machine Learning in modern power systems and intelligent energy networks. The programme witnessed enthusiastic participation from faculty members, research scholars, students, and professionals representing various universities, engineering colleges, research organizations, and industries. Throughout the five-day programme, participants actively engaged with the eminent speakers, exchanged ideas, and explored emerging technologies that are shaping the future of sustainable and intelligent energy systems. The successful completion of the FDP reflected SRM University's continued commitment to promoting academic excellence, research innovation, and industry-oriented professional development through high-quality technical programmes. The programme concluded with a Common Valedictory Ceremony held at NANDI Auditorium, SRM University Delhi-NCR, Sonepat, where participants from three parallel Faculty Development Programmes gathered together. Certificates were presented to SRM University participants by the Hon'ble Vice Chancellor, Dr. Raghuveer V. R., and Dr. Ranjit Roy, Dean Engineering & Technology while participants from other institutions were informed that their digitally signed certificates would be issued after attendance verification. The ceremony concluded with participant feedback, a vote of thanks, and a group photograph, marking the successful completion of the FDP.
