The Department of Mechanical Engineering organized a two-day hands-on training programme on PLC, Robotics and Automation to provide students with practical exposure to industrial automation technologies. The training focused on developing fundamental technical skills through demonstrations and hands-on activities, enabling students to connect theoretical concepts with real-world industrial applications.

Objectives

  • To provide students with hands-on exposure to PLC, Robotics, and Automation technologies.
  • To familiarize students with the basic concepts, programming, and operation of industrial automation systems.
  • To develop practical and problem-solving skills through hands-on activities.
  • To bridge the gap between theoretical knowledge and industrial applications.
  • To enhance students’ understanding of automation processes and emerging industrial technologies.

 

Day 1 – 24th August 2026
The first day of the Two-Day Hands-on Training on PLC, Robotics and Automation was conducted at the ACMA Training Center, Engineering Block. The programme commenced with a welcome address by Prof. (Dr.) Ranjit Roy, Dean, Engineering and Technology, who emphasized the importance of practical exposure and industry-oriented training in enhancing the technical competencies of engineering students.

The technical sessions were conducted by Mr. Roshan Thandon, US Technology, Meerut. The expert introduced the participants to the fundamentals of Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC), industrial automation, and robotics. The sessions comprised practical demonstrations and hands-on exercises covering PLC components, control systems, programming concepts, and industrial automation applications.

Students and faculty members actively participated in the practical sessions and gained valuable hands-on exposure to industrial automation equipment, systems, and processes.

Day 2 – 25th August 2026
The second day focused on advanced practical applications of PLC, Robotics and Automation. The industry expert conducted hands-on demonstrations and guided participants through practical exercises related to PLC programming, automation control, and robotic applications. Participants were provided opportunities to perform practical tasks and understand the integration of PLC and robotic systems in industrial environments. The sessions enabled students to strengthen their understanding by connecting classroom concepts with real-world industrial applications. The training also provided faculty members with valuable insights into current industrial practices, automation methodologies, and emerging technologies, thereby contributing to their professional development. The programme concluded with a Vote of Thanks delivered by Dr. R. Sankar, HoD, Department of Mechanical Engineering. He expressed sincere gratitude to the Dean, industry expert, faculty members, students, and the organizing team for their valuable contributions, active participation, and support in making the training programme successful.

 

The two-day hands-on training programme successfully provided students and faculty members with practical exposure to PLC, Robotics, and Industrial Automation. The combination of expert-led demonstrations and hands-on activities enhanced participants’ technical understanding and practical skills. The programme effectively bridged the gap between academic learning and industrial applications, contributing to the overall professional and technical development of the participants.
