Innovation Exposure Camp, Regional Innovation Science Hub for Innovators (RISHI)

Department of Science & Technology, Government of India has sponsored the project on Regional Innovation Science Hub for Innovators (RISHI). The one-day Innovation Exposure Camp which was the part of the project was inaugurated by Prof. A. K. Bhatnagar, formerly Head, Department of Botany, University of Delhi and presided over by Dr. P. Prakash, Hon’ble Vice Chancellor, SRM University Delhi-NCR, Sonepat, Haryana at 10:00 am on 21 July, 2017. This was the first camp organized by the University, promoting RISHI (Regional Innovation Science Hubs for Innovators) Programme. More than 325 school students who are pursuing science subjects from Sonepat and Delhi-NCR along with twenty five teachers participated in the camp. Dr. D.K. Pandey, the Director of Innovations (IEEEP) and Programme coordinator, has expounded that this science camp gives an opportunity to the young minds to experience the thrill of creativity, innovation and imagination.
Dr. P. Prakash, Hon’ble Vice Chancellor, SRM University Delhi-NCR, explicated the need of innovation among young minds and vibrant people, and advocated that it must be inculcated at ‘low cost and more comfort’. Prof. A. K. Bhatnagar, the Chief Guest, vocalized the study and research options available for young students, such as, space research, energy, pharmaceuticals and so on, and inspired the students for developing an independent idea, experimenting and testing to get data, and analyzing and presenting for arriving some specific conclusions. Dr. G. J. Samathanam, Director of Research, explained, the Innovation Exposure Camp has the capability to uphold the tradition of science and motivated the participants to emulate hard work.
Dr. Manish Bhalla, the Registrar, articulated that SRM University always stands for its commitment in imparting higher education for four decades. Mr. Senthil Kumar, Director, admissions and outreach, counseled and advised the students to explore the possibilities of higher education, particularly university education. Dr. I. K. Sharma, Dean, Academics, empharized on the progress of India in Science and Technology, exhorted the student community for nurturing creativity and knowledge through invention, discovery and innovation. The day-long camp ended with the vote of thanks by Dr. Ajit Kumar, Associate Professor, Department of Chemistry.
The technical session was addressed by Prof. A. K. Bhatnagar, Dr. V. Samuel Raj, Director C4D, Prof. Prem Chand, Deptt. Of Physics, Dr. H. C. Kandpal, Rtd. Scientist NPL, New Delhi and Dr. D. K. Pandey, Director, IEEEP. Participants were asked to submit their innovative project ideas along with brief synopsis. These project ideas will be evaluated by a committee to select highly potential ideas who will be called to persue their ideas further.Back To Events
