SRM University Delhi-NCR, Sonepat honours Guru Drona Awards to School Principals

SRM University, Delhi-NCR, Sonepat, Haryana celebrated Guru Drona Awards, a Principal’s Conclave at the Radisson Blu Hotel ,Delhi on January 31, 2019. The University hosted this event second time, where eminent educationists, teachers and faculty members, dignitaries, experts, and most specifically, approximate hundred school Principals, who were selected for their outstanding performance in education, attended the function for making a wider and vital University-School academic linkages. This effervescent programme had been idealised by the university, as a collaborative initiative to bring the University and the Schools together, well-knitted in a partnership, where educationists representing both university and schools become an intractable mode in modelling a new generation of teachers in different schools, representing government, aided and un-aided Institutions.
After the lamp-lighting and exchange of greetings, Dr. P. Prakash, the Vice Chancellor, SRM University, welcomed the august gathering, and explicated that SRM universities and their branch institutions are numbering more than 80000 students representing India and some of the foreign countries. Furthermore, he said, this fledgling five-year-old budding institution, with a motto, ‘learn, leap and lead,’ believes in imparting and inculcating ‘intellectualism’ through ‘intelligent quotient’ of the students, which will be converted into ‘efficiency quotient’ and ultimately transformed into ‘employability quotient.’ Prof. M. M. Pant, former IITian, who was the chief guest, eulogized the programmes initiated by the university and emphasized the schemes conceptualized and implemented by the university for the welfare of the teachers and learners, and articulated that teachers and learners are the most important people in the society, where technology-empowered training and teaching becomes predominant these days. Dr. K. Srinivas, Professor, NIEPA, New Delhi, who was the Guest of Honour, explicated the programmes introduced and implemented by the Government of India in higher education. Smt. Renuka Raju, founder, Lotus National School, who was also a guest of honour, exhorted on the competency skills acquired by the teachers and students. Dr. Shankar Goenka, a motivational speaker and entrepreneur inspired the audience, through his meticulous articulation on motivating the young generation and equipping them for achieving greater heights.
A panel discussion on ‘Active Sustainable Development’ chaired by Prof. Samuel Raj, Dean Academic Affairs, SRM University, where Prof. K. Srinivas, Mr. Shamin Saxena, Ms. Kiran Bala and Ms. Shalini spoke. The second panel session chaired by Mr. Senthil Kumar, Director, Administration and Admission, on ‘Vocational, Professional and Entrepreneurial Education,’ was shared by Prof. Jeyaseelan, Mr. Hariharan, Mr. Ritwik, Dr. Mani Madhukar and Ms. Swati Das. The Vice Chancellor gave away Guru Drona Awards to awardee Principals. The function was attended by Mr. Manoj Madhavan Kutty, Deputy Director Admission and International Collaboration, SRM faculty members, staff and guests. The award function culminated with a vote of thanks by the Registrar, Dr. Manish Bhalla, followed by national anthem.Back To Announcement
