Valedictory function of INSPIRE Internship Science Camp on 23rd July 2016

The Valedictory function of the five-day INSPIRE Internship Science Camp was conducted at the SRM University Delhi-NCR, Sonepat (Haryana) for the brightest students of class XI selected from different schools of six districts of Haryana – Sonepat, Panipat, Karnal, Jind, Jhajjar and Rohtak from 19 to 23rd July 2016. After the invocation, Dr. G. J. Samathanam, Director of Research, SRM University welcomed the gathering and appreciated the efforts of the University for taking initiatives to arrange such a programme and expressed that he felt great joy to serve the students. Dr. D.K. Pandey, the Director of the Directorate of Innovations of the university and the coordinator of the INSPIRE programme, delineated the camp activities and events happened in all these inspirational five days.
Prof. S. Rajarajan, the Vice-Chancellor, who presided over the function, in his address, not only appreciated the students, teachers, parents and officials who attended, but also exhorted the students to emulate the great principles of Sir C.V Raman, Subramaniam Chandrasekar, Venkatraman Ramakrishnan, S.C Bose, and other scientists. He expressed that the students must focus immensely for conceptualizing and concretizing their ideas with great vision on a particular subject and acquiring in-depth knowledge. The Chief Guest, Dr. Hemant Joshi, Professor, Indian Institute of Mass Communication (IIMC), New Delhi, in his keynote address inspired the students to get-involved in learning science from the society to achieve a scientific temperament for fighting against the social evils of our country. Propounding the idea that science has to be popularized in the local languages and medium, he further argued that an inter-disciplinary approach could produce good scientists in India.
During the function, some students and teachers, representing different schools, shared their experiences at the camp and expressed their pleasure and satisfaction, and eulogized the effects of the University for conducting such a programme and acknowledged that it was a great opportunity and also declared that they received such an inquisitive training for the first time in their lives. Moreover, in the ‘Science Quiz’ programme conducted, Akash, Ujjwal, Abhishek and Sneha were declared winners and were awarded cash prize and medals. The participants were issued certificates and were appreciated as well. The INSPIRE Internship Science Camp ended with a vote of thanks by Dr. Manish Bhalla, Registrar, SRM University Delhi-NCR, followed by the National Anthem.Back To Events
